Recently picked up a car I bought which came with a personalised numberplate.

Where would be the best place to sell/ get rid?

And what sort of process is it?

I have never had a private plate before so have no idea how it all works

If you just want to get rid of it you can take it to any DVLA office and they will issue a new age related plate for your car and scrap the private plate at no cost.

What's the plate?

If it's 'CHR 15' I may make an offer......!

If the plate is a good one a site like regtransfers might sell it for you and take a bit of commission. What is it out of interest? You might get someone to take it off your hands on here

If you put your plate up on here, the plate sellers will have it advertised up on their sites within a day. Obviously without your say-so........

To me it seems a bit rubish.

It's 1 letter followed by 2 numbers and then 3 letters. Somone who has a name beginning J or N might be interested

ebay - no reserve. You'll be lucky if it sells.

That's the best way to sell it, keep it a secret.

Well apparently it's not best to say it either!

Because it is a standard DVLA plate and not a cherished plate (e.g. one number followed by letters; or letters followed by one or two numbers) then it sounds like it was personal to the seller so probably worthless to anyone else. Yes, your best bet is to start with DVLA. If it spells a name then you could try someone like regtransfer who will give you a quote and advertise for you (they get commission on sale).
