If you do own one any thoughts or opinions on them? Running costs and actual MPG?

Cheers

driven one

bonkers fast, especially with a stage 1 map
more economical than it has any right to be
amazing noise, the engine is to die for, one of audi's best (especially if your a S1 fan)
half decent storage for that type of car

downside

you look like a hairdresser tongue out
99% of PH will tell you should have bought a Datsun GT-R (and conveniently forget about the ruinous running costs)

sorry, I think I phrased my sentance badly. I meant it's just an average engine, to which they added a turbo. People made a big deal about it being the same as the old UR quattros, the 5 pot legacy and so on, when in reality it was simply the only way of getting a large displacement onto that platform since the vr6 went away..

I'm sure its a decent enough engine, but its nothing ground breaking. it's pretty similar (5 pots, turbocharged, over 330bhp) to the run out focus RS engines

I don't own one but, they strike me as being bloody expensive for what they are. For the money I'd buy an R8.

I don't own one but id rather the RS3. Same car, different body..

Then I'd rather a 1M over the RS3!

You are comparing used R8 versus the price of a new TTRS - nonsense comparison.

You won't get an R8 for 36k: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3460087.htm

I know a bloke called Kev who's got one. smile

Well, I don't actually know him he went past me in traffic and his reg was "TTRS KEV", which was handy as I wasn't quite sure what car and model it was, could've been the TDI see, even though it was badged up in the boot, so I'd like to thank "KEV" publicly for making my day. thumbup

I don't think he heard my "THANKS KEV!" shouts. frown

Yup, I have one. It is a 2010 with 19k km on it. I got it when it had 3k km on it.

So far it has been faultless only had to have it in for a scheduled oil change. Next service is in about 10k km.

Currently only mod are the miltek cat bypass pipes for a more fruity exhaust note. I will be mapping in the next week or so which will give me about 410bhp

Igonre the comments about hairdressers etc...petty minded buffoons.

Drop me a pm would be pleased to help.

Not owned one, but I've driven the TT RS and it is a very rapid car with an impressive engine (whatever its origins). It's predictably nice inside too, but for all its capability it wasn't hugely involving.

I'm curious on its real world mpg as its quoted figures are pretty impressive for the power, considering 1 as a daily drive.

Not sure of the exact figures but on a long motorway run I am getting well in excess of 500km out of a tank.

Sat at 140kph on cruise control yesterday saw a figure of around 7.5/8 l/100km which is around 35mpg.

Just to add the interior is pretty standard VAG stuff (having had a few VW in the past). With some lovely RS touchs. The steering wheel is the same one as the R8 and there is is great RS gearknob too. The standard fit leather seats are pretty nice to with some good RS detailing...having said that I would prefer the optional buckets.

I have magride fitted which, in its' stiffest setting is too much for day to day driving. This is a bit of a general gripe about the RS with magride fitted as to activate Sports mode (more aggresive throttle map and open the exhaust flap) you need to have this in stiff.

However I have modded mine to have the flap open all the time (5 minute job) and after a remap there will be only one throttle map.

Mine is Sepang Blue with the 19'' Titanium look alloys
