Rare Ford Escort fetches £65,000

"A rare original 1968 Ford Escort has been painstakingly restored and sold for a staggering £65,000 - More than 22 times it's original value.
Norman Hughes rebuilt the car, which would have cost £2,919 when it was first around, at his workshop in Bristol after buying it in parts.
The rusting shell had to be lifted onto a trailer to get to Cleevewood Garages, which is run by Mr Hughes, and the rest of its engine and pieces were in boxes."

I just read the rest of the article and you're right - what a misleading title!

I would have thought £20k would be nearer the mark, too.

I bet he's looked at how much all those lovely new parts costed him, then how much labour he put in, and came to that amount, because thats what the car "owes" him

This garage is near where I live! I stop and have a look sometimes when passing as they have a lot of interesting classics. Most are still there though when I stop again several months later as they are all a bit over-priced
