Alfa Romeo 8C gets Dukes of Hazzard makeover

General Lee turns Italian. Or is that Alfa turns American?

The Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione is not a car created for shy, retiring types. If you own and drive one of these, you are going to get mobbed pretty much everywhere you go.

And yet that doesn't appear to be enough for some. This pic, spotted on Greek blog site TRC off (loving the name, chaps), clearly shows that someone with rather a lot of cash, and an odd fetish for the Dukes of Hazzard, has turned their 8C into an Italian tribute to the General Lee.

Now, our Greek ain't exactly brilliant, but Google Translate reliably informs us that this is apparently not a mock-up, and was captured near to Alfa's own Balocco test track in northern Italy. It's a fairly faithful recreation, too, right down to the '01' on the doors. We assume the owner is a fairly slight individual, however, as 8C's small window apertures aren't conducive to jumping in and out of the car without bothering to use the door.

We have only one question: is this a brilliant homage to an iconic TV show, or does it sully the good name of both the General Lee and a very pretty Alfa?

I'm struggling to find an excuse for this, maybe it's been done for a music video or some kind of promotional tool? I refuse to believe a customer would ask (and get) this direct from Alfa as a personal car!

It may be more sinister.

The Alfa Giulietta has morphed into the Dodge Dart in the USA.

So maybe the 8C is destined for Dodgedom too...after all with the Viper no longer being a Dodge, they need a new range-topper.

Now...Dodge Daytona might be a good name...

Greek article says there are number stickers as well on the doors for the full Dukes of Hazard effect and wonders if the owner has stuck the doors so that he can climb in from the window. Absolutely tasteless imo

It's probably a wrap and it may simply be an adverse comment or criticism or simply a humorous representation of the Fiat-Dodge unholy union. A mini-protest that Alfa's mini-Ferrari PR exercise has been overwhelmed by an alliance with a more utilitarian marque.

I wouldn't do this to any car, even if I owned a classic Charger! Some guy near me has a hatchback Manta with the same paintwork. Oh an my brother had an old boxy Fiat and painted the confederate flag on the roof and put General Lee stickers on many years ago. What made that even more sad was the car was black and he didn't even bother to paint it orange. Sad, very sad.
