Driving without footwear

Does anyone prefer this?
What's your view on it?
On a long journey I prefer to slip my shoes off as it's more comfortable, and I find I have much greater control / feel
On the (few) occasions I've tried it I haven't liked it. I agree with the greater feel you get but I don't feel as 'in control', if that makes any sense? Bizarre, I know. What's your view on it?

(Btw OP, that's a great website you have

I think it is in Jockistan.
I do it here, usually wearing flip flops in the summer so driving bear foot is much more comfortable.
Flip flops are bloody dangerous to drive in. They can easily fold up and prevent you pressing the pedal. I do it here, usually wearing flip flops in the summer so driving bear foot is much more comfortable.
I discovered this rather quickly in Oz, so drove everywhere barefoot instead. It's a nice way to drive but if the pedals are stiff it can be tricky to put the correct pressure on, as your foot tends to be squidgier than a shoe.

I gone outside in just my socks a few times just to move a car or pull it onto the drive and it just feels a bit odd! I certainly wouldn't fancy driving any distance with no shoes on.A comfy pair of lightweight trainers will do thanks.
It takes a few minutes to get properly used to it, then it's very nice, imo.As already stated, when wearing flip flops in summer (obviously unless you're mental) it's always best to slide them back under your seat and drive barefoot. It feels weird for a bit, but is quite nice once you're used to it. Quite like it when your foot grips the pedals, again a funny sensation, but one you get used to

On long distances, all the time.
Is it really against the law?. Who on earth was bored enough to think up a law against it?. Is there a standard that foot coverings have to meet to satisfy that law?. I got some socks from my last long haul flight that have rubber gripper patches on the sole, would that suffice?. Would it still be considered a sock if I wore regular socks under them?.
Would conventional shoes still qualify if you put a pair of socks on over them as I have actually seen that done.
