Does anyone know if the front coil springs on a 54 plate Megane 1.9dci are handed, are the ns and os the same part number?

Why not have a look on Eurocar parts website to see if they list different parts?

I doubt they will be sided.

Might as well change the top strut bearing while you are at it.

My Father had a crappy 5 year old renault lagauna and the front spring just snapped when it was stranded on my drive after a major electrical problem, for 5 months.
I just bought the cheapest spring I could buy for the car on ebay for around £20 new and there was no difference between the osf and nsf, apart that the cheapo chinese spring I bought was most probably better quality than the original renault one.

I managed to keep our five year old Renault running for a whole half hour once, That was just enough time to trade it in to a back street car dealer for a straight swop for a 20 year old fiesta which needed £600 spent on it lol, and he didnt know of the problems lol
Things that didnt work: windows broke, suspension springs broke, wishbones broke, aircon broke, keycard broke, engine wouldn't run because of fuel pressure regulator which we waited 5 months on back order for, only for it to last 3 weeks, even the tyres would go down as the wheels decided they didn't like being round lol. plus about a 1000 other faults as there were too many to mention lol.
But it was ok once for 6 months lol

And that was a low mileage one owner car, I think the reason was no one else was mug enough to buy a laguna lol.
Even A Renault dealer told me that they don't buy Laguanas back because they are terrible cars lol.

I couldn't risk selling it as I would have been worried about someone coming back and firebombing my house lol
