Time For Tea? 1973 German GP (all of it)

Watch a race on the Nordschleife in the 'good ol' days'

Today's Time for Tea could actually get you through several pots of the stuff - or possibly a three-course dinner - such is its length.

We shan't say much about it here, however, other than this: Nurburgring Nordschleife, 1973, no commentary and lots of lovely engine noise.

Hope you've got 2 hours seven minutes and 20 seconds to spare. It's worth it.

Dammit, I think I've got the 1973 Eurovision song contest by mistake. I hope it's the Brotherhood of Man one!

It's interesting seeing all the very different designs of cars, where now they all look remarkably similar

There's loads of these about.

The 1970 dutch GP, the 1962,1963,1964,1967,1969 German GP.

Loads of 60s and 70 stuff from silverstone.

There's even some pre-war stuff from donington when Mercedes and Autounion went there.

Riggers, have a look in the Video thread that's stickied at the top of the General Motorsport forum. smile

Ahh that takes me back... actually it doesn't since that 17 years before I was born. But those cars sound much better than those of today (in terms of F1 cars).

That's actually brought a tear to my eye. Cevert, Petersen, Hill, all no longer with us. And probably a few more I missed as I skipped through the footage.

In which case, you really don't want to find the Patrick Depailler wet practice laps of montreal, the Alain Prost laps of the oesterreichring, the Porsche 911 qually lap of Spa....etc. wink

I predict that Riggers gets no work done tomorrow. wink

Fantastic footage thumbup

ETA I love the way that as the national anthem is being played for the podium you can still hear cars crossing the finish line!

Great engine noises, amazing footage and I love old school F1 but it's good to see that maybe modern F1 isn't necessarily any more boring than it was back in the good old days.. from a racing point of view only..

Who won the race? Wasn't it Clay Regazzoni? I was there on that day for the European Formula Super VW race but didn't have time to see much.
