Classic insurance questions? with some what car thrown in
Discussion
Just after some advice on classic insurance.
I haven't drove for nearly two years, and I was on company insurance then so I have zero no claims
I have just started a new job which is only a two mile commute so I cycle and I really don't need a car(but I want one). I have had a few quotes boxster/e46 m3 and a few other similar cars, all seem to be around £2500 per annum. I really can't justify £50 a week for something that will rarely be used.
So I'm thinking of going down the cheap classic route.
Can I have a classic policy with owning just one car?
Do classic policies accumulate NCB?
I've had a couple of gocompare quotes(not classic specialist) and a Mk1 mx5 come up with £850 per annum(I can live with that, not sure if I can live with the image), 80's alfa spider £270(not sure about the alfa, car would be parked on driveway would be a crime to let it rot away)
So any suggestions on classic policies and a modernish classic would be greatly appreciated.
Not sure about budget maybe £3k but cheaper the better.

Speak to a good broker.
Also speak to your work insurer - they may provide you with a statement that showed you had no accidents whilst insured by them.
No claims isn't a "thing" to lose. It's a statement of risk that allows an insurer to take into account driving history - it doesn't suddenly expire, but different insurers have different policies over claim history...
As I said, speak to a good broker rather than any of the web compare places. I have found Saffron and Adrian Flux to be good, but your mileage may vary...
