Have some basic new Ford Fiesta for a loaner at the moment. What strikes me is that if i could close my eyes and ignoring the engines complete lack of power, it could almost sort of be a sports car or a performance car of some sort.

10 or 20 years ago there was a big gulf between the two but nowadays cars all sort of blend into one another. Sports cars were stiffened up to the nines and had tons of grip and felt very different to regular cars.

But this Fiesta.... the torsional chassis stiffness, the very quick damping and speed of rebound, the exemplary body control, the supple but taught feeling springs, all of this is quite incredible and not only a testament to the ride and handling boys at Ford but it puts the sports cars of yesteryear to absolute shame. In fact, after Lotus I have Ford second for ride and suspension, they are very very good at it.
