Great KIA Sportage advert

I caught this last night in between the new Wheeler Dealer episode on the Dodge Charger.
I have to say it's a refreshingly good advert - the car against a white background with a narrator saying they could have shown it off road or on rough surfaces in Iceland, eventually concluding "But you're not going to do that, are you" noting it would spoil the paint.
Nice play on the whoole faux 4x4 thing.

Hmm. its a simple reverse psychology ad.
1) The common stereotype of these cars is chelsea tractor.
2) Advertiser pokes fun at the stereotype to make the buyer feel safe by ridiculing the type.
In reality crossovers are a complete waste of space. The only good thing about them is the road visibility and sense of power being high up. Most of them are even compromised on space inside compared to an MPV, and certainly compromised handling wise.

but a waste of 'what' space exactly? Wheel base on this car is no different from most other medium size cars. They arent taking up any more space. And as you said, the raised driving position is a bonus.1) The common stereotype of these cars is chelsea tractor.

Its not a great big Audi Q7, its just a bit taller than most average estate cars.

I'm not so sure about some of this. There's clearly a huge market for them. They give the higher driving position that some folks want without the physical bulk and running/purchase costs of a "proper" 4x4. And as far as most people (i.e. non-petrolheads) are concerned, the compromised handling completely passes them by.My other half's parents have the old shape Sportage. They live down a long, private road in a very rural area. They want something that drives like a car but with 4wd and a bit of ground clearance. They don't want to spend a lot of money and they don't care who makes it. The Sportage suits them just fine.
Huge market is clear. I even have one, Quashqi.
