Ok, I will be in the position, in the next year or so, of being able to buy in the uk a sports car. I quite like the idea of the jag xkr, as running a British international school it seems British and suitable, my other side says a Morgan of sone sort would also hit the right buttons. My question is: is there a car, that can be serviced by non marque trained engineers, and reliable you can think of, and please no merc or BMW, that would not suit at all. Xjsjohn please feel free to add your comments!

For c£20K you will have a mind boggling choice of cars so enjoy the choosing. However, you might have to take into account the newer ones may require linking to computers to identify problems and possibly to reset service lights and ECU memory etc. This may be a problem with someone in your part of the world who may well have good mechanical knowledge to service and maintain a car for you but not have the pre-requisite hardware and software to reset the electronic service systems.

I am biased but a decent V8 TVR with a rebuilt engine from somewhere like TVR Power or STR8SIX would fall well below the £20K level, be reliable, easy to service and maintain (buy a Steve Heath bible) easy to get parts for and terribly British thumbup

Just a couple of random thoughts biggrin
