Is £700 for the car and insurance or just the car?

Pug 306td. Should come within price range. I had a sport with half leather. Good mpg and performance. They eat fuel filters but are easy to change (right on top of engine) need regular oil changes (every 6k). I loved mine

always thought 306 was a cool car lol, but won't a td cost a lot to insure? thought about the 1.6 or 1.4, but drove my cousins 1.4 and just thought it lacked 'oompf' if u knw what i mean.

Well from memory they are the old group 5. So I suppose it wouldent the cheapest out there. However much smarter than the corsa, micra ste. And you can turn the turbo up with a screwdriver. Whats not to like ha. If u do happen to get one and you have problems starting it check glow plug relay. The stupid fking thing on mine jammed on and burnt through four sets of plugs in a month :-)

Which are the models with the engine that you can easily screw a few more bhp out of by cranking the fuel pump up?

Congrats. Tbh, I'd let the insurance quotes guide you. Plenty of larger cars out there in that price range that you may be surprised to find are cheaper to insure than the traditional 'first' cars.

Well i had a 98 1.9td and you could deffo do it on them, they do pump unholy ammounts of black smoke out of the back when turned up, funny thou. I believe the engine was based on a older design and before everything went 'hdi' etc and became reliant on the ecu. Im no expert thou

Have a look here.

http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/advice/car-insurance...

This page is on insurance group 1. None of the cars where will be £700 but click up the insurance groups until you can find something in your budget.

Boom.

http://pistonheads.com/sales/3543398.htm

£695, insurance group 3.

I couldn't see anything in a lower insurance group within budget, but a 12 year old Skoda Fabia was group 2 and about £1000 to buy.

A nice clean Austin Metro. Car and insurance should be less than 2 grand.

st the bed, and you chose a £1000 voluntary excess which means the actual excess will be around £1500!! Do you really need a car? This is madness.

Yes but can the OP get prices that low! Decent classic minis for under £700 must be pretty hard to find. Mk 1 fiestas are insurance group 9 as well (I know the groups aren't the be all end all).
