Snow Socks - who has used them this year?
Discussion
As above really.
- Worthwhile purchase?
- Once you get off the heavily snowed side roads on to the clearer main carriageways do you have to remove them? (I assume so to stop them being damaged).
I always planned on getting a set to have in the boot 'just in case'. Well, "best-laidplans schemes" and all that...

I've used some today on my monaro for the first time and can safely say that they are superb. I couldn't get up my street today so fitted them and it was simple! They say to take them off when the road has no snow but I left mine on on some clear roads and as long as you take it easy there fine.
Bit of a pain to get on mine though due to the low clearance in the arches so I ended up jacking it up to fit them but didn't need to to remove them.
I'd definately recommend to everyone.

I've used them on my Smart and they're fantastic. I bought them for £40 off eBay before winter, needless to say they've had a price hike now. There are various sorts but mine were by Fast Grip, they fold up into a little bag and they come with some gloves too. Guy across road from me uses them on his Mazda 6 and has no problems in the snow.
Fantastic once you get the bloody things on. Not much rear arch clearance on the BMW so my first attempt took ages. I'm sure I'll get more proficient at it.
Removal is much easier, but gloves are a must as my hands turned black from the road grime.
Gave them a rinse when I got home and they're drying ready for next time

Bought some ahead of time. I live in the South West, so I was looking forward to using them today as the snow fell heavily yesterday.
By the time I needed my car today, the snow had melted.
I think it's still a good idea though- it's not like the socks have a use by date, so there'll be a time they come in handy eventually.

Fantastic things, bought mine in 2010, used them plenty of times.
Amusing in a FWD because the front has plenty of grip and the rear none, fun getting the back stepping out at ~15mph then correcting it with a touch of throttle!
Last time I used them since last year was yesterday, got 99% home and stuck on my road, socks on, drove up without issue.
They are fab, a total no brainer to buy and stick in the boot for winter.
