Hello PH, wavey

I have just seen this on another website.

Fiat 500L

What is the point of it?

At first I thought it would rival the MINI Countryman but it looks too small to be a rival for it, so then I thought it may replace the Punto Evo, but then that is quite a good seller so (IMO) it would be silly to stop making it. So is this the new Bravo as that wasn't a good seller? Then again, if you were to make a car that is bigger than a Punto Evo why base it on a car that is smaller than a Punto Evo?

I know the guys at FIAT know more than me, but I can't see what their target market is for these. It doesn't look good in my opinion.

And this in turn is based on the new Panda platform, just like the 500 is based on the old (the version I have got) Panda platform.

So basically most of the cars fiat make are actually the Panda just slightly larger with different engines and a different body hehe

That looks rather too similar to some of Mini's offerings!

Not feeling that at all. To be fair the 500 was going to be a tough act to follow.. they just got that so right! Not that I am biased owning one or anything.. smile

+1.

Shame, as I like the 'new' Fiat 500/Abarth 500.

Look like a Mini countryman and one of those little Citroen mpvs had a romantic break in Italy and then gave birth.

Its not awful but its not winning any beauty prizes.
Kills the fun of the 500 as well I think, when you already see masses of them and now, potentially, a few ugly ducklings and misconceptions floating about.

Looks nice. So is it a 5 door Fiat 500 or an MPV type thing?

Should have called it a 600, or a Panda XL.

That is why I don't mind the new 500L - they made a big version of the original 500.

They didn't make a fat Austin/Morris Mini.

Looks like a mutated version on the new Panda. Don't think they should ruin the 500 with this "thing", although at least Fiat did a similar model back in the day, what is Mini's excuse for the hideous Countryman? There is an excuse for the Clubman (for some reason really like these more than the normal Mini, which I'm not fond of at all ;-))

They did it was called the maxi - based on exactly the same principles as the mini - which looked equally as hideous as the countryman - sad fact is genious though he was, issigonis was so obsessed about interior space he forgot about styling in the process with the maxi although I realise some of the styling woes were down to having to use the landcrab doors

It looks like a stretched and slighlty melted Skoda Fabia to me. God it's hideous.

A 500 estate is a Giardiniera (that's what the photos people have been posting are). 600 maybe. I don't like 500L- the L stands for Lusso not Large.

Giardiniera for the 4x4 version is definitely something I'd approve of...

Are tall hatchbacks back in fashion again?

I don't see many Kia Souls, Nissan Cubes, Daihatsu Materias etc. about.
