Nissan GTR - 2012 or older?
Discussion
I'm considering buying a GTR. Does anyone on here know what mods are required to get the pre 2012 model to 2012 standard? Am I assuming correctly that if I'd buy the PPG gearset : http://www.gtrblog.com/2009/08/06/ppg-full-gearset... plus remap and exhaust, a pre-2012 GTR would be as capable? I'm talking mainly using LC without major worries
Has anyone on here upgraded their gearbox components?
Threads like : http://www.nagtroc.org/forums/index.php?/topic/410... make me worried.

I believe they are continually progressing with the gtr..
And with each addition they make a number of small mods.. if I'm not mistaken they introduced an asymmetric suspension setup where it took into account that there would be a weight of about 80kg from the driver in the 2012 editions? But my brain is rusty
To be honest most of the changes other than power will be predominantly unnoticed and won't take even take a second off your own lap times
I'm aware about the gearbox issues, and I'm not sure if you've seen the 'horror story' where a 2mph bumper dink cost 12k+????

Go to the GTR Register forum for all the information you will ever need.
The Gearbox does not require any remedial mechanical work, they are perfectly strong even running big power but for £300 you can get LC4 Software from someone like Litchfield.
Remaps are readily available to get at least what a MY2012 car is running for £600 from GTC or Litchfield and 620bhp + is just a couple of grand.
The interior of the 2011 cars has grey annodised metal throughout and although the structure is identical its rather nicer inside. Up to you re the exterior. For me the earlier wheels and front and rear aprons look much better.
The 2012 cars have fettled suspension but you can upgrade to high quality Bilstein kits which will be at least as good.
My 2011 and later are required to have only 12 month rather than 6 month services
Fact is the steady but small improvements do not amount to a great deal. They are fantastic bases to modify from and if I were you I'd find a nice MY2010 car with low miles at about £45k and save £30k.
