Ok so there are periodically threads like this. I'm sorry, but I've been here a long time and occasionally you just have to get emotional ok?

So yes, it's about a relationship, and one I've had for the last 16 years or so. Occasionally full on, but mainly one of those ones that pops up between other serious relationships, restores your faith in the simple pleasures in life and sends you happily on your way. Never too serious, but always there for you when you need it I guess.

We spent many happy years together when I was younger, and although she came back into my life a few years back, I was by then happily wedded to a much more attractive and younger model. However she was still a great friend, always there to help me out, and being just round the corner helped out with the occasional run to the station, or trip to the supermarket when my BMW was on the blink. She was even there just before Christmas to get me to the hospital one evening while my wife was waiting to give birth to our son. She was always fun, never demanding, and just one of those things in life you're thankful that happened to you.

So when I came back this evening, and expected a lift home from her and she wasn't in her usual place I was very concerned. I knew something had happened. Turns out she has been missing all weekend, and with the snow where I live nobody really noticed she was missing.

As soon as I realised she had been missing all that time I got that sinking feeling in my stomach. I phoned my wife and alerted the neighbours and we searched all over the place for her. Finally with a heavy heart I called the police to report her missing. Given the cold weather, and the not so safe area we last saw her we know deep down she is gone and won't be coming back. We are both distraught, my mother is in tears having known her practically from birth.

So finally, this is an appeal for help, and some general sympathy. If you see my purply blue 1996 Ford Fiesta Zetec 1.25 reg N630DHJ at your local scrapyard, let me know. Some scumbag has nicked my lovely station snotter, despite it having a flat battery when I left it in Denham last Thursday night. It's total value for scap was around 25 quid. However sometimes the sentimental value of a car you lose is more than the financial. Bas*ards... frown

Sorry to hear about your loss, but £25 is not all it is / was worth

My daughter recently scrapped a 99 saxo . Gearbox fubared so not drivable. She phoned a few places to get a price for scrap , most were around £100 if you took it to them. Then she found one that offered £170 and they collect.

Scrap value is around £100/tonne at the moment I believe yes

Hence I started the bidding on my old Merc at £200 (no reserve) on ebay hehe

Lot of effort to go to for 80 quid. No stereo to nick, no alloys, no new tyres. Nothing inside worth nicking except a knackered paid of jumpleads...
