When I drive 75 kilometres in my 2000 model XJ8 Jaguar an orange light comes the dashboard with message ENGINE FAILSAFE MODE. Unfortunately I'm 3 hours away fro a Jag dealer wth diagnostic equipment to tell me what it might mean. If I stop the car for a minute and restart, ther is nom problem for another 75 klms. Anyone experienced a similar problem and whar was the prognosis. ?

Very hard to say, but probably a sensor having intermittent problems, and the engine goes into limp mode.
It could be a lot of things.

For what it's worth I found the problem. Once I established I had no brake lights it wasn't a giant leap to work out the culprit was the brake switch. Had it replaced....must be a common problem as they had readily available....not cheap....$195 Australian and $130 to fit, but well worth it....it's frightening driving knowing you have no brake lights.
