Strange excuse for crashing your car!

Just been updated by my workmate on the accident he was involved in on the weekend.
He had been driving on a rural B-road in his Audi when, in the distance, he spotted a fairly new Corsa coming the other way was in the middle of the road - straddling the white lines - workmate noticed this and stopped his car, only for the Corsa driver to drive straight into him (Corsa driver was doing approximately 30-40mph - he says) - as you can imagine he wasn't particularly pleased and to cut a fairly long story short(!) the driver (who was 19 years old) gave the reason for him being in the middle of the road, and i quote, "trying to make my car dirty, by driving in the middle of the road to pick up dirt"
I mean WTF? This kid had crashed two cars, put two lives in danger, buggered his NCB and completely failed to pay any sort of attention to his surroundings (he had been looking down on the road, rather than around him), because he wanted the 'muddy rally car' look - is this some sort of new craze?!
Both drivers are okay, but i've no idea what the cars are like, i don't think they will be written-off, but i could be wrong.
That must be one of the strangest reasons to result in crashing your car. Even stranger he actually admitted that was the reason!
