2k convertibles

I'm after getting a convertible in the next few weeks hopefully to enjoy abit of summer driving,plan is to buy and then sell after summer bit then if I enjoy it I'll keep the car ,I know I'll take abit of a financial loss but spending 2k doubt I'll. Lose much
So I'm after a 4-5 seat car( I'd wait a mr2 mk3) but I've a 7 year old to consider and don't like the idea of her being on the front) running costs don't matter insurance mpg etc
So I'm thinking
BMW e36
Audi convertible
Peugeot 306
What do you guys think

I just sold a really nice MR2 Raadster at £2100 in black with a hardtop and 68000 miles. I dont like any of the cars on your list though

mums boyfriend has an audi convertable, I wouldn't want to put any long legs in the back but it seems quite nice. Also rather bombproof.

Much more interesting and charismatic than the later E36. Just watch for the rust. Good examples are commanding strong money now.

+1 for a straight six E30 cab (preferably 325i as the fuel is the same in the 2.0 and the 2.5 really)

I miss my old E30 and long for an e30 cab.

If its just you and a 7yr old get a proper 2 seater.

Why is it safer in the back - nothing in the front for a small child to hit.

If the car crumples enough to kill a child in the front it would probaly kill one in the back too.

Vauxhall Astra 2002 shape, seem to be quite a bargain at the moment, and still looks quite a modern car. Plus you can get them in Turbo guise

I have been looking for something similar to the OP. I think you can get a front strut brace to help with this issue.

Yep they do have the scuttle shake and are not as good in bends as the coupe but a great engine and very comfortable.

How is a pug 306 cab on the list? Terrible car

If you're looking for something safe, classy, looks nice with rock solid build and residuals and just want to waft about in the sunshine...look no further than a '92 M-Benz 300 SL (rear seats are novelty only i know) or '00 M-Benz CLK 230k Cab

E36 cab - so much car for your money, and if you get a good one they're largely bomb-proof. I might be persuaded to agree with those who say that the E30s are more characterful, but at this price, I think an E36 is less of a risk...

I had one of those, kept it 2 months. Hated it. 245bhp through the front wheels will teach you lots about torque steer and the car in general will teach you all you ever need to know about scuttle shake.

This is actually what I swapped my Volvo for, a 2005 Bertone Astra convertible. Had a nice stiff chassis and actually surprisingly chuckable.

I've always liked to look of em and I've always thought they were a decent car am I wrong??

They can look nice although a bit dated inside and out, but really that is all that good about them.
