Small Wheel Tyre Advice

Hi,

I am after some advice as I have searched high and low for some decent tyres that are going to take a 800kg car that has the handling on par with an elise, about 130hp plus a nice CUSCO 2 way man diff in the rear. I know there are loads of tyre choices out there if I change the stock wheels but I love them as they offer the best handling for the car and only weigh about 4.5kg each. so I don't want to change them plus they keep a nice sleeper look.

So the tyre sizes I have to play with are 165-65-14 right up to 185-55-14.

Can I have some recommendations for tyres please. I know I can get R888s for about £80 each but they will only last about 4,000 miles and wont be any good in the wet (read as "I wont be able to control the car in the wet not that they aren't good enough")

So suggestions please probably one more for the Caterham owners and the like bearing in mind the comparible weight/performance/tyre sizes.

My Caterham has Yokohama a539 tyres, supplied by Polley Motorsport. I think there'll be a size within your range. Their grip is not comparable to the r888s but as it is a road tyre they will be cheaper, more durable and they work well on my car for racing. The more performance orietated tyre, and similarly priced is the yoko a021r. The 21 is fantastic in the wet.
