Pressing on and got passed...by a Metro?!

Ok, pressing on is a slight exaggeration, but using the torque of the oil burner up the hill on the A24 to get up to speed I got caught and then passed by a Red N reg Metro. Fair play to that, but clearly it isn't standard, anyone know what it is? or bumped into it before?
I should have lowered the window to hear it....but it was gone before I thought of that!

The 1.4 16v is 103 bhp and gives a metro 0-60 in around 8.5 seconds or so, mine is a 1.8 VVC with 160bhp and 0-60 in around 6 seconds, like the talon car but I built mine myself. I wouldn't doubt it being a 1.8 but the performance difference between the different engine conversions is quite surprising!

I think it may have a been a friend if a guy I work with, can't remember what it's running but I seem to remember it being quicker at Santa Pod than my colleagues Mustang! I should have lowered the window to hear it....but it was gone before I thought of that!
I'll ask tomorrow what it's running and if it was him

mental little things, the turbocharged ones look great fun Not quite the same but a mate of mine saw a rather chavved up Nova pull up next to him at the lights nr Bristol. He was in a new RS4 and got completely and utterly toasted!!
He went and ordered a supercharger after that but not sure if he's had a re-match yet - doh!

Nah, would have been a C20LET or Z20LET.I had fun in my little AX with a VTS engine in it, had it pushing 160 odd HP. Now have another with a TD04 turbo fitted and a quaife diff, pretty nimble bit of kit and apx 700kg, should see around 250bhp this summer when i turn the boost up a little.

I had a GTi Metro for a while, it was an utter shed, but it was rapid, I hated the thing as it was rusty, ugly, falling to bits, whiffy but I couldnt kill it, drove it in 2nd on the limiter throught the airport tunnels at Manchester Airport trying to actively blow the engine up so I could change my car, buuzzede the engine a few times going from fourth to third, like in Forza, when your engine turns red but the little f
ker kept on going to spite me, I felt such a failure, all my Rover K series engine aqauintences with their tales of woe, of headgaskets going and I just couldnt kill mine, sold it to some scrote and saw it a year later being driven through trafford park with a Volvo Motorway car in hot pursuit. Bought a Rover 200 BRM which I liked (someone had to) and the HG died in no time.
