First experience with Audi main Dealer – Liverpool
I wanted my gearbox oil changed so booked it in for last Saturday, £179 to do it.
Arrived at half 8, had a chat with the service guy who explained that the A8 had a recall on its coils, and that they would replace them free of charge. Also said they would clean it for me and do a health check.
Whilst it was on, I was given the remote for the TV, always offered a tea/coffee and had a good mooch in amongst the new cars (RS3 looks a winner!)
Work was done and they had advised a few bits that may need doing, incl a perished coolant hose/cracked tank and to have my poly belt changed as it wasn’t done when the cambelt was.

It was £200 all in so just booked it in, was offered an A5 for the day courtesy car (£10) and away I went. Found an Audi ice scraper and bottle of water in my car for good measure.

Customer service was great even if I was giving them money!

Sister bought an A1 from them last summer.

The big database that all dealers use to register cars went down on the day she was supposed to get it.

Was a bit miffed as anyone is when they can't get something they've just bought but they were very apologetic (despite it not being their fault) and when she finally got the car, they'd given her a large bag with detailing products and that sort of thing, plus a bottle of wine.

Didn't have to do it but it's little touches like that, that impress someone into continuing business with them.

Completely different experience at Warrington and Preston Audi for others in my family.

Does sound like they know how to do customer service - very good to hear! A rarity these days!

Happens all the time, it's just that people are fare more likely to take the time to moan rather than praise

Still - people are fast to complain about poor service, so bully you for highlighting good service.

I get the feeling id there were more acknowledgment, it would be more common

I suppose it make a change for being ignored, treated like poo, looked down on and left stranded. This is how things should be, after all £179 to drain a bit of fluid out of the gearbox and put some more in is fairly enthusiastic pricing.

I know, but £190 to replace my poly belt, coolants tank and hose seems a bit more normal?

Afterall though, that £179 included a quick wash/hoover, a bottle of water (£1?) and an ice scraper (£2?)

Just had the gearbox oil done on my Alpina. The oil alone comes to £120!

Its nice to hear of a main dealer giving good service, the thing is now you will use them again and I think if its a tenner more for a service you would rather use them than a independent.

Plus if you put a post like this up its going to get a few more people through the door at there dealership in these hard pressed times.

I did read somewhere that if your Audi is over a certain age, Audi offers the service items quite cheap.

I think I will book my old banger Audi in for a service now, just so I can get my hands on a A5 for a day for £10 lol

The A5 is going to be my next car, well in 16 years time once its worth about £500 lol

Im only 21 thought so i don't know if that £10 is because my age? Possibly if you are over 25 it will be free as it is only a day.

I've also experienced a very high level of customer service at the Audi dealership I bought my car from and my current local one where I take it for servicing work (both Sytner owned).

Mind you, with the prices they charge ... Still, very nice to get the deluxe treatment and since the car is under warranty it's a better idea to use the official dealers to keep them sweet if you have any 'marginal' issues.

We had great service at Knights North staffs, took the car in because the DPF wasn't doing a regen (they had to reset the ECU to get it to regen), we got a brand new 1 series as a courtesy car, and when I say brand new I mean it, less than 100 miles on the clock, when we got the car back they had also fixed a piece of trim which isn't a warranty item and had taken out a dent both FOC.

But that Audi service sounds really good. Main dealers really seem to be realising that they will get a lot more customers if they do good deeds such as that. Oh and a good point about Knights is that they serve starbucks coffee.

1 thing i did forget to ask, The work they want to carry out next week (when they give me the courtesy car) is to replace my coolant tank (cracked) and perished hose. Isn't this really serious? I mean coolant being able to leak is surely bad.

Plus my poly belt? He said that was contaminated from a previous oil leak, so should of been done when my cambelt was (20,000 miles ago)

He said this poly belt controls my auxillary something or other, i.e. Power steering.

Anybody able to shed some light on how important these works are for me please?

Thank you.

How mcuh would you prefer to pay then? Lets assume 6 litres of oil at maybe £15 a litre. And an hour to do it. Doesn't seem so bad to me.

If pricing matters that much, don't buy a "premium" brand still under main dealer warranty. Get something older and take it to your local spanner monkey, or do it yourself

The poly belt or auxillary belt normally drives your alternator, power steering pump, air con (I think), and a few other goodies that you will definitely miss if it goes. wink

It's a fairly low-stress item compared to a cam belt/timing chain but pretty important all the same.
