Audi have some pretty cars at the moment but I think the A1 kind of lets the side down a bit.

I saw the new 1 Series this morning which seems to be part way through a transition into a Peugeot. I'm not sure they have recovered from the Bangle era, really - the E46 is probably the last really good looking BMW for me.

Citroens design is usually adventurous and quite cool but they don't always hit the mark, particularly with their smaller cars.

What prompted this thread was a new Freelander I saw this morning, and it occurred to me that Land Rover, of all people, may be the only manufacturer that doesn't really have a munter in their range. I think every model they have on the market at the moment is good looking and distinctive but still keeps true to the brand without resorting to the Attack of the Clones approach of Mitsubishi. For a company that makes cars for farmers and soldiers I think that's quite remarkable biggrin

I am talking purely aesthetics here but does anybody agree?

Aston don't produce munters (at least not recently) but you can't say that their styling department is in any way "adventurous" sadly.

Ford do quite well at producing good looking cars I think.

Lamborghini as well.

At the risk of being laughed at: Kia. They've gone from nowhere to some interesting designs very very quickly.

I'd agree with this.

Assuming you mean in-house designers, I can't think of anyone who stands out really.

Wherever Ian Callum goes, if you ask me.

Though I must agree Lamborghini are doing an excellent job.

I think the Evoque looks terrible.

Jaguar. All their cars look very classy at the moment.
Ford. The Mondeo especially, an the new one looks good too.
Kia & Hyuandai. Way above expectations.

I think the Germans are probably in the most need of something fresh in their design.

I'd say Kia and Hyundai definitely get some kind of "Most Improved" gong. But I'd say the straight-edged stuff going on at Lambo does it for me at the moment. Although the Evoque is a seriously handsome car, I can't forgive the new spectacles on the FFRR, so Landie get an honourable mention at best.

I'd agree with this.
Agreed. Their new line up is looking fantastic. Looks better than the current lot of BMWs for my money.

Agree with Kia - they're putting BMW and VW to shame.

Audi are just boring - the A7 is probably their best, but still looks like the paranoid android at the back.

Ford is going through a boring stage again (that they always seem to). They come up with stars like the Sierra, MkI Focus and then spend several years churning out dross. Perhaps the new Mondeo will change that.

Volvo have some nice moments - especially the rears, but the new droopy fronts are a turn-off for me.

Of all, I think Jaguar are the winners - look at an XF against a Merc/Audi/BMW and it has so much more presence. Same for the XJ. The XK makes the 6-series look like a dreary blob. I think Ian Callum and his team are doing wonders with the latest crash rules. It's easy to make a cool looking supercar - but bloody difficult to make a good looking saloon or sportscar with the new regulations, but they manage it.

I was going to say Kia too. I think it has a lot to do with them being a "young" brand, in all sense of the word.

Jaguar probably the best.

The facelifted XF is a lovely looking thing, the XJ just as good and the XK has always been good looking.

Aston I love but they haven't really changed for a long time.

Ford can't be counted because the new Focus is horrible and the C-Max/S-Max variants aren't much better.

The new 3/5/7 series are very nice, as is the Z4 but then you look at the X6, 5GT and the likes and you wonder what the hell BMW are doing.

Alfa only have the MiTo and Giuletta but they're both lovely looking things.

A lot of love for Kia - interesting and not without validity. They have truly arrived... smile

I forgot about Jaguar (and being a Jaguar fan I have had a stern word with myself) but that's a very good call. I wonder if it's coincidence that they and Land Rover are so closely associated nowadays and are both making great looking cars.

Actually now it's been mentioned, I think Jaguar would be my vote for the best in-house design team.

Absolute best = Jaguar
Most improved = Kia

Ford- For a bunch of everyday cars i really like their current designs although the focus is abit mpv like for me.

Jaguar- classy alternatives to the german lot.
