Travelling northbound on the A1(M) yesterday at 5:30pm just south of Hatfield, noticed a white transit type van in the outside lane (2 lanes) swerving and hassling the car in front and indicating to go past. I was in the left lane and could see the traffic slowing up in that lane. He used the opportunity to swerve into my lane and udertake this car, then give it a brake test. In fact, he came to a complete stop in the fast lane of a very busy A1, got out and started flapping his arms like a deranged Gorilla at the car behind. God knows what it was about but it wouldn't surprise me if this caused an incident behind! Madness...

He actually stopped fully on a busy NSL road?

Saw a very similar incident on the north circular 10 or so years ago. Unbelieveable!

It's highly likely some shennanigans went on back down the road somewhere, eg. the 'innocent' party cut the van driver up. I find it very unlikely that the van driver was raging just because the car in front wouldn't get out of the way, especially if there was a bunch of traffic already in front of it.

I've been fully road raged with absolutely NO provocation at all. I think some people just shouldn't be behind the wheel. They are just very angry.

Yep, full stop on the outside lane of the A1 motorway in rush hour!

90% of the time the car infront is a class one cock, driving at well below the NSL with the holier than thou you aint getting past attitude, often giving the car behind a brake test

seen it many times over the years, often ends up in tears when the self righteous prick finds out that its a class one pie key they have just given a brake test too who is happy to batter them

I had one yesterday, NSL old boy doing 25mph and braking for everything (none of it there) followed by a driving instructor and then me

the road opened up to a straight we both passed, the driving instructor decides that 40 is fast enough in a NSL and that i was not going to past him stayed in the middle of the road and started swerving from left to right.....

That stretch of the A1 is always full of bullies. I've been in a 3 lane crawl, stop start, left a nice gap in front of me, maybe two car lengths and had a van undertook me using the hard shoulder. He was sounding is horn and waving etc. All three lanes blocked, absolutely nothing gained!

The amount of traffic that moves too and from London, on a motorway that can barely cope is likely to rile a few people up. The lack of indicating, swerving and tailgating doesn't help either.

Someone did this to me on the m6 it's amazing what some people will do ie only only takes a small incident to make a nutter to extreme things! I didn't like being brought to a stop in lane 2 of a free flowing M6 (i was looking in the mirror for traffic approaching) and reported this to the police but I doubt they did anything.

The A1(M) at Hatfield is, (I find) bad for a spot of road rage. Fortunately I don't use it often (so many better back roads to use instead) but seeing as there is Herts Police HQ at the next junction and the amount of boys (and girls) in blue that use that stretch of road nothing is done. I saw a road rage incident a couple of years back and the marked police car that was less than a couple of hundred yards away did absolutely nothing.... and they couldn't use the excuse they didn't see anything unless they were both asleep! Be careful out there PH'ers!
