I was coming out of a service road to a fuel station this morning. It's a T junction onto a wide road. I wanted to turn right, but due to a stream of traffic coming past I was unable to immediately. As the stream of traffic was passing (probably around 8 cars) Mr Focus pulls up behind me blaring his horn as he comes to a stop, gesticulating madly at me. After the last car had finished passing me I pulled out of the junction and made my way up to 60mph. This stretch of road has two lanes (up a hill lorries use, so sort of a pretend crawler lane).

I kept well left to let numpty passed, which he tried to do, but his MY11 Focus TDCI seemed incapable and he ended up dropping back in behind me (TBH, I would have thought a TDCI Focus would have had little trouble passing a 1.6 Laguna?).

He was behind me for a good half hour before he turned off to where he was going, and he tried 3 attempts to over take me (while I was doing the speed limit - perhaps a touch over too). He never succeeded (or tried properly?) but both him and his wife/girlfriend/McDonalds chomping heffer (true story), seemed to be of the opinion my driving was appalling.

After he turned off I did pull in to check that there was nothing obviously wrong with the back of my car that he was (weirdly) trying to alert me too - nothing. And yes, PH, my brake lights are working smile

I just don't get it, he looked like he was about to have a stroke.

It may be what you interpreted as attempts for him to overtake was him popping out to have a look, then deciding not to overtake. This is a recommended technique, in fact it's pretty much essential in a diesel focus I would say. They will take a lot of road to get past someone doing 65mph.

It is also perfectly possible he was having a lovely "discussion" with his cow-friend and she was aborting his rage filled overtakes for him.

The road is full of insufferable spastics.

I hope that helps.

He wasn't just popping out. He was out the quartering me for significant amounts of time! It was all a little weird, tbh.

In that case, maybe he was a psycho who wanted to do a pit maneuver on you. Decided there'd be too many witnesses.

Now he has made a note of your reg plate so he can look you up with the DVLA.

HTH.
