7 days drive away insurance... What a joke!
Discussion
Just bought our new car and got an HPI check on it first. Received an email saying 'Call Aviva for a free no obligation quote and 7 days drive away insurance FREE OF CHARGE'.
It states if you are under 21 or the car is more than 10 years old, you will not get the free 7 days. Neither of those apply to me and I phoned them up, gave them my reference number, spent 15 minutes going through every detail to then be told 'This particular vehicle has restrictions, nobody under 25 can be insured on this vehicle with Aviva. Therefore we cannot offer you 7 days drive away insurance.'
What a waste of my time, why not ask me my D.O.B and car reg first to see if I am eligible? Also I have quotes from every bloody company on this planet INCLUDING a quote from Aviva's website!
Now I have to take the Golf off the road on Saturday rather than the following week

Had the same myself, over 21 but under 25, high risk car, 10 minutes on the phone to Bangladesh, a crap quote and then the revelation that under 25s aren't covered on my car. I got 7 days free when I bought my Impreza (at 19!), I remember at the end of the 7 days I got a call from Ruposhi "Peter" Aktktkquengo asking if I'd like to take out a years policy - at the competitive rate of £9,000! Poor guy was convinced it was a good deal and don't understand why I burst out laughing after he said he'd be happy to put it through there and then.
ETA: how rude of me, congratulations on the new car

Almost as impressive as my quote on a 147 1.6 Twin Spark. Sorted out the 7-day drive away policy, to be informed that a year's insurance would be £13500. This was also at 19 years old. The poor woman on the end of the telephone didn't want to tell me the price, such was her embarrassment.ETA: how rude of me, congratulations on the new car

So it's not a joke then it's just not a way to get FREE insurance for young drivers on high powered cars.
It's only 7 days, it's not some magical gateway to being able to drive a car well beyond your means.Donatello said:

Simple. They now have all your details on record for their future use and for selling on to third parties.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
