Do you need a pick up OP?
If not the nitro is certainly a comfy motor to drive but if your missus is on the petite side test drive one to see how she gets on we've had a few lady customers that struggle to use pedals/controls just through basic ergonomics
Great to drive though the 2.8 is a good torquey engine with no real issues, higher tax bracket but so is the l200

I have a 3.7 v6 Dodge Nitro but mostly it's the Mrs that uses it. I quite like it to be honest, comfy seats, loads of room in the rear and the V6 noise isn't to bad either. Parking is only problem with it is according to the Mrs, that's with parking sensors too. But she struggles to park most things.
We hired a nitro in the states and to me without doubt it is an awful car. Looks good but to drive it has a harsh ride. is fitted out with the cheapest plastic I have ever seen inside. Auto box gearing all wrong, heavy on fuel. Any japanese of landrover product would beat it hands down on any level.
Depreciation will also be awful.

We have an L200 as a works vehicle and to be frank unless you really do need that amount of load space then i'd avoid it. It's not very nice to drive, not very nice to be a passenger in, feels very agricultural and it's very noisy (especially on the motorway where you will be doing 3500RPM at 70. Plus it drinks fuel, even on a long trip our diesel won't do any more that 25-28mpg.
Out of interest my parents have a Freelander which I occasionally borrow and the difference is incredible, it's comfortable, quiet, refined and will return 35-40 mpg on a long trip.
