One Manufacturer For Life

If, for the rest of your life, you could only buy cars from one manufacturer, which would you choose?

Bearing in mind initial costs would still have to be taken into consideration.

I think I would have to go with BMW. They seem to be one of the few manufacturers which consistently produces quality cars above the class standard at relatively affordable prices, not to mention a great drive which other manufacturers usually fail to match.

Anyone else?

Toyota. 180K in an MR2 with lots of hooning and nothing broke. Landcruiser - all the toys (LSD back and front, center diff lock, hill decent control, anti roll-back) and tows a huge trailer of hay up a 1 in 3 like it wasn't there.

Depends on your viewpoint IMO. Who has offered a greater degree of experiences (if you ignore bikes, powerboats lawnmowers etc, which would exclude Honda)? Even the Bimmers & Mercs of this world are generally variations on a German's ideal. The Porsches & Ferraris of this world, while undoubtedly fine machines as a norm, or better, are just a touch one dimensional.

Not sure what the comedy is. This thread was done a while ago and I'm pretty sure the consensus was that Ford was a decent shout.
It covers so many bases. Don't forget the F150, the Transit, the numerous estate versions, the Shelby Cobra, the Mustang...

You have plenty of choices for all sorts of demands.

Despite how much I love my current BMW, and how much I loathed my old Mondeo, I would still say, given the constraint of one manufacturer for life, that I would choose Ford.

The current line up of 'ordinary' cars is much better, and their muscles cars from the States are something I'd love to own

I've previously owned 4 mk2 Cavaliers, 3 mk3 astras and still own a mk3 cavalier, so I thought I'd found the manufacturer for me, and then I saw the mk5 astra, the Vectra C, and the Tigra, and decided to buy a honda.

Without doubt it has to be Ford. The only area I can't see it covering is mega über barge - ok one of this US sheds might work but would definately be a compromise.
