My 02 espace stop light is very dim and it flashes in time with the indicator, even when i remove the light cluster it still does it. I have checked the bulbs and fuses (just in case)
This is the last bit of the Mot failure for me to sort out but electrics are not my strong point! could it be a relay and if so where the hell is it?

Thanks

It would think it will be the earth on the light unit, There should be a screw or terminal close by, remove clean up and refit,

Check the earth between the light cluster and bodywork. You should get low (few ohms) resistance on a multimeter and it should "beep" in continuity mode. Could be caused by a failed earth strap, rusty bolts or something wiring related in the cluster itself.

2 possibilities,

1. Earthing (see above)
2. Someone's fitted an incorrect bulb. Single and twin filament bulbs can look very similar; the single has one contact on the bottom and the twin has two.

Usually an earth fault. Test by connecting a length of wire to the item & a good earth (I have several lengths of wire with small crocodile clips on each end specifically for that purpose) If the lights then work correctly you've found the problem.
May be worth running an extra wire from the units earthing wire to a good earth.

NB Espace has a fibreglass body (non-conducting) so proper earthing of all electrical fittings is particularly vital.

Thanks Chaps, I had a wiggle of the wires around the light to no avail but then when I wiggled the tow bar sockets Hey presto lights work fine!
