Hi. I went to take the track car out for a spin now the weather has turned to find the battery dead. Not even an ignition light. I jumped the car from my lamdrover and it fired straight up. I went for a 10 mile blast but the battery is still dead. Not even an ignition light. I have put the battery on charge and charger says its fully charged! Battery in a varley red top 30 and is not that old. Car has been stood over winter. Any ideas?

It's goosed. No surprise if it's been left all winter, TBH.

A few questions,
1 What's a lamdrover?
2 Where do you find a battery charger that talks?
3 How old is not that old?

It's probably had it, best to keep a battery that will not be used for a long time topped up, either with an optimiser type charger or occasionally charging with a normal charger.

I have had many cars that have stood still for 6 weeks over winter and never had a battery that won't even light an ignition light. never had a varley red top before though. Do these batteries die easily? Sorry for typos. iPad!

This happened to me so I bought a CTek on the basis that it would either fix my battery or I'd need it to keep the new battery in good shape.

Plugged it in and let it do its recovery programme and the battery has been as good as gold since, even when the painter let it go deader than a dead thing again.

What CTek did you buy? Do they repair gel batteries?

How old is the battery? Gel batteries are meant to be more resilient to the cold.

Leaving them completely discharged for a couple of months is usually terminal...

Just been out to check - mine is an XS7000 and must be 3 years old now. The spec sheet says it is suitable for lead-acid batteries including gel-type and a bunch of other letter-only types that I've never heard of.
