EGR Blanking and the MOT

I’ve been having a couple of problems with my Mondeo TDCI that appear to have been cured by my blanking of the EGR valve.
It’s a Euro 4 engine and hence, whilst the car runs better, I can’t extinguish the engine management light.
Firstly, come MOT time, will the fact that I have a warning light on fail the car (the rules have/are about to change aren’t they?)
Even if it passes on that, will the fact that I have disabled an emissions control device mean that the car will fail on emissions?

The engine management light is not one of the ones added for the 2012 test. These are as follows...
Electronic parking brake
Electronic stability control
Headlight main beam warning light
Electronic power steering warning light
Brake fluid level warning light
Tyre pressure monitoring system warning light
Airbag warning light
Seat belt pre-tensioner warning light
Steering & suspension
All above "where fitted"
The only way they'll find out about your EGR is if you tell them, the particulate reading will be higher but whether it will be a fail, the only way to find out is to stick it on and exhaust analyser and find out...

How do they know the where fitted bit, my headlamp washers dont work and I beleive this is now part of the MOT, ok, will fix them, but equally the bloody things were an option, someone back in 1991 decided to tick the box to have them fitted and now they have to work otherwise I cant use the car any more, even though they are useless !

they only have to work if you have High Intensity Discharge (HID)headlamps fitted.A2Z said:

Should easily pass the smoke emissions as it has a particulate trap.It’s a Euro 4 engine and hence, whilst the car runs better, I can’t extinguish the engine management light.

Possibly finding the original fault for the poor running could have been the best course of action.
