mwhich autobahns should i use for a roadtrip?
Discussion
Hello piston heads!
i'm new to this so bare with me if i sound dumb, silly or whatever you wish to describe me as... Lol
this will probably never happen, but i want to plan a roadtrip from west to east germany (holt to frankfurt oder) and south to north (lindau to flensburg) using the autobahns with the most unlimited sections. I had a look at the suggested routes on google maps and it said for holt to frankfurt to use the a30, a2, a10 and a12. And for lindau to flensburg, a7 and a96. But then it dawned on me a circuit of germany would be better. I looked on autobahnatlas.de and downloaded the pdf file showing the unlimited sections. Holt to frankfurt looks like it has a lot!
Basically, all im asking here is for those that have had experience on unlimited autobahns to give feedback on my proposal and maybe suggest better routes (particularly if i decide to do the loop of germany rather west to east etc.)
thanks for reading this

As in driving all around Germany just to use the unlimited option?
It's pretty boring after a while. Fuel cost gets VERY HIGH at constant 150mph+ too. If I'd be you I'd just go to the ring, enjoy few laps there, find the nearest unlimited part of the autobahn, drive on it for a while, head back, spend a day in Brugges and go home. All can be done in a weekend.

the East/West A2 may have lots of unlimited sections now, but it is very busy, you'll be lucky to get anywhere above 120 for more than a minute
can't comment on the a7, never used it
not far from your starting point there at mönchengladbach, the a31 from Bottrop towards Emden is the flattest, straighest bit I know
only two lanes though, so you've got to be on the ball
and watching out for test drivers from Brabus (in Bottrop)
