I am getting 4 new tyres, choice is as follows:
Toyo T1 Sport - £130 each
P0 Rossos - £150 each
Dunlop Sportmax TT - £155 each
Goodyear Assymetric 2 - £157.50 each
Conti Sport Contact 5 - £162.50 each

I currently have Contis and they are a great tyre, but not sure how they wear as they were on the car when I got it. I have done 7k on them and I reckon they were 2/3 worn, so not bad but I hear they wear quickly. Anyone have experience?
I hear the Toyos wear quickly and aren't too good in the wet, but they are the cheapest - any comments?
Price, wear and grip are the most important factors in that order, but I am only getting a premium tyre so I figure they all perform and grip well. Any recommendations?
Cheers

Not on your list, however I can recommend Vred Sessanta as an excellent tyre. Reviews confirm too.

I use Conti's on our Merc, I think they're great. Really grippy in the wet and get decent mileage from them. I'll be replacing them with the same tyres. If I could afford it I'd have them on all our cars.

Toyos - great on small cars, MX-5s, 205 GTI's etc - not good on big cars.
Avoid.

Of those I'd go for the Dunlops as I've good experience with them Dunlop Sportmax on a previous car.

I would avoid the P Rosso's speaking from personal experience (wore down very quickly) and from your choice I would go with the Goodyear Assymetric 2.

I am currently running Michelin PS3's and they are the best rubber I have had to date. Any reason why you left them of the list? They are the same price as the Goodyear Assymetric 2 IIRC.

If you can, wait for the Dunlop Sport Maxx RT - I've driven it on an S4, directly back to back with the excellent Sport Contact 5 and it was somehow even better.

If you can't wait, Asymmetric 2 all day.

Bugger should have done a poll...
Michelin Pilot SP3s are £177 each, slightly over budget

I can't get Vredsteins from my dealer.
Looks like Goodyear has it by a nose - I always liked Eagle F1s.

michelins will pay you back as will last longer than Conti's........ in terms of performance though the difference is negligible in real world terms smile

The Toyos are tempting me - they'll save me £80 to £100 as I need all 4 and times are tough...
Had Toyos on my Focus ST2 just before I sold it so not sure on wear, but I found them a little noisy, OK grip in dry, not bad in wet - anyone else used them?

What about Falkens, they should be similar priced to the Toyo's but review better (ones I have been looking at anyway (452's)

Have you considered the offerings from Falken (FK 452) or Avon (ZZ03?). I have replaced some bridgestones on an XKR with the Falken and the grip levels even in the wet, have been quite impressive. The Avons also get quite good reports.

Cheers, falken 452s are £125 but my trye supplier reckons the Toyos are head and shoulders above them and are decent in the wet...
I have had Avons before and don't recall them being great.

Conti 5s are the best tyre I've had on my Focus RS so far.

I had Michelin PS2s before and didn't like them as much.

Sulli, I have had both T1-Rs and FK452 on my Impreza and the Falkens did everything that the Toyos did equally as well, for a great saving.
