Sorry if this has been covered before. I've got three germans currently staying at my house, and they are getting restless. Now to prevent them invading poland again I'm looking to keep them entertained. We've done the historical things to death, but they all appear to be hardcore pistonheads, so I came to the conclusion that something to do with cars would be nice, and could fill their cameras up.

So has anyone been to donnington and seen the F1 collection, would you recommend it, and are there any other similar exhibits that I could consider?

(General ideas are also greatly appreciated)

Just give them beer, they'll be fine.

If you go to Donington, you might need something to fill the afternoon up with after the half hour you'll be in there. Head down past the power station towards Gotham for some nice pubs. I cant remember the names of any but you should have fun exploring!

(I've never been and don't know if it's still there)

Also, with jokes of not mentioning the war....http://www.haywoodoaksactivitycentre.co.uk/index.php?webpage=tank_driving.html

I've just checked and some of my photos are on there too!

Donington's good if you're really a F1 fan and can recognise some of the subtle changes in cars over time, but for anyone else it could be a bit dull.

Gaydon might be a good bet for a general petrolhead crowd : http://www.heritage-motor-centre.co.uk/

They keep mentioning the demise of the british car industry, so I have to mention the war.

Might have been interesting if you'd gone to Donington. I went at the end of last year and it was full of fond reminders of your guests' ancestors:

The Donington museum is absolutely fantastic.

I could (and have) spent hours in there and still found I didn't have enough time to look at and read all the things I wanted to.

Highly recommended.

The Senna tribute section and the line up of his old cars is worth the admission fee on its own.
