Well, a few weeks into Diesel ownership and the following observations have sprung to mind:

1) Not bad fuel economy.. Not amazing (around town) but still very acceptable.
2) Feel quite nice when on boost. No great shocks, since I've driven about 100 or more different diesels in my time.

Bad.

1) Smell horrible. Diesel is just a nasty smelling fuel.
2) Take a fair ol while to warm up.
3) When you start delving into the serviceable parts (PCV, EGR etc), what a nasty substance it is. It coats everything with black sooty gunge and just gives you the feeling that you're killing all the little bunny rabbits of our world.

No, I'm decided. I don't care if they emit less CO2 and have good cruising MPG, I have no doubt that the rest of the pollutants will turn our houses grey and our lungs to oily sandpaper.

V8 with LPG will be the next daily driver.

I tried diesel for a while (in a diesel engine, of course). I didn't really care for it. Changed back to petrol after 2 years. I won't be going back to diesel again, unless forced to.

Well horses for courses and I did genuinely think it would be the answer to all my life issues. (Ok, a slight exaggeration)
But I really have surprised even myself how much it grates on me.. So when finances allow, like a true 'Dragon' "I'm Out!" smile

It was more an image for where these threads tend to end up, rather than an objection to your personal views smile

P.S. let's face it, at least a dozen diesel weasels are going to read the title, ignore your post, and kick up a stink in 3... 2... 1... wink

hehe Oh yes, of course you and I both know that by page 2, it will be all out war, Petrol v Diesel and somehow the only correct answers will be a 335d (with the dreaded r***p word) and an MX5. smile

I'm something of a diesel convert, as a daily driver commuter box a turbo diesel makes perfect sence to me. Just make sure you have something petrol and NA in the fleet too for balance.

So ultimately, you want a RWD diesel, with masses of torque. Someone should make one of them. Perhaps with German brand qualities too. Available in 3 or 5 doors, preferably.

Korean build quality would be better.

ssangyong rodius it's RWD so some PH'ers would drive that over any FWD car. because of its totally uncompromised chassis set-up
