Towing with motorhome ?

Been looking at a motorhome for towing our racecar around etc.
trailer and car weighs in around at 1.5t and would want enough power to shift along at 70ish.
You do realise you can only go 60mph max legally when towing don't you?trailer and car weighs in around at 1.5t and would want enough power to shift along at 70ish.
Depending upon when you did your test will affect what you can tow weight wise.
Tow weight depends entirely on the base van, 2.8t base van, 3.3t base, 3.5t base 4.5t base etc & even many of the same weight class- 3.5t is the most usual, the train weight varies massively from 5.5t which is the most popular- transits etc, to 7t.
Generally 1.5t behind 3.5t motorhome= 5t train so is fine & gives you 500kg leeway.
Check the chassis plate, its all on there.

Take a look at Rimor Transit or Mercedes based rear wheel drive vans.
Good robust vans, do a good range with rear garages for equipment, used a lot by motocross people and can be uprated to increase capacity, also reasonably priced.
Kentucky camp vans are also from the same factory.

Thanks for replies, been out today and had a look at a few, most seem to have enough tow capacity but some fairly low powered, 2.0li tdi Peugot only 85hp !! Be a real slug !
Rear garage/storage be v useful.
Fiat Ducato at 130hp looks a good base, just need to find something with right layout and price, sub 15k if poss.
Transit based motorhome looked perfect, Rear twin wheels, towbar, awning, rear garage and best layout but unfortunately to much at 25k.
The search continues ! Will check out the recomendations. D.

Have you considered an American motorhome/RV ?
We looked at Euro motorhomes to tow our race car a few years ago, we could not find one with reasonable spec and decent engine.
Generally have loads of storage space and plent of available weight for loading and towing.
Ended up with a 25ft diesel Ford Econoline, great spec, not too big. Fuel economy will not be as good as Euro van.
2 years ago we changed for a later and slightly bigger model, this one is petrol. Fuel economy is worse ( 6.8 V10) but we don't do enough miles to warrant LPG.
