Drive other car insurance for teenager
Discussion
I'd be surprised if you'll find one. There was a lot of trouble with young people insuring themselves on a 1.2 Clio, and then driving "other cars" which tended to be something turbocharged, that they had bought, but with the V5 in the name of a friend. Obviously the insurers didn't like that very much so very few of them offer "Driving Other Cars" any more, especially for new drivers.
You'll be lucky to find it, most have stopped. Back when I was first getting insured, me and my brother used Quinn Direct who gave 3rd party cover on any other vehicle in the same class with the owner's permission. Since then, that clause seems to have dropped off the radar and it seems restricted to over 25's now, so I'll have it back soon enough, I hope.
As a young lad, you're really walking a minefield when it comes to insurance, I feel pretty fortunate not have been ripped off like some posters but you can't expect 'the perks' anymore!

Aviva do it from 21 I believe...
However, when I was looking at renewing my insurance last weekend Aviva was giving prices of around 1k, whereas Admiral came in at £450, the only difference being that Aviva would let me drive other cars 3rd party.
I went with Admiral, not worth an extra £550 for the rare amount of times I'd use it.

It is very rare for under 25's.
May I ask why you NEED it?
His dad has just brought an Audi R8 4.2! May I ask why you NEED it?

Why would you want the V8 version, there's a V10...
Unless you are addictive of course...

I wouldn't want to be a name driver because I will not be driving the car a lot. I need the drive other car cover.
Thats what named drivers are for. Occasional and minimal use. You are not going to get 'drive any other vehicle' cover, as that was a recipe for lads meeting up on a friday night and swapping cars. Trouble probably arose when the Astra VXR owner stepped into his mate's E36 M3 and thought he could drive it like he did his Astra...you know the rest!LeeKn said:

Doesn't make any difference how much you drive it; it's cheaper to go as a named driver, and the cover will be better (i.e. fully comp if that's what your mum has, rather than 3rd party only).TheTurbonator said:
I'm 23 and Tesco cover me to drive other cars 3rd party as long as the owner already has their own insurance and of course if I have their permission.
I'll try TescoI want to have DOC because it may come in use to me at times. Like I may want to drive my dads car to the supermarket.
