Right.

I've had enough of the high(ish) life. Audi TT must go. I want a new car on finance. What is the simplist deal right now where I can walk in, minimal deposit, low monthly payment and have a car that will cost me next to nothing bar payments for the next 3 years?

Was interested in the Peugeot Just had fuel deal but small print suggests a 5k deposit with is just silly!

My TT I think will be worth around 2500 trade in as it's pretty old now!

This is the logic that keeps car dealers ticking over.

Insurance is costing me £100 a month right now plus 150-200 in petrol = £300 a month car cost, not to mention tax, maintenance etc

The pug deal got me thinking, new car, warranty, servicing, insurance, tax all sorted for a 3 years for £180 a month. Just the 5k deposit was the kicker!

I just want a white goods car and not have to think about it.

I would probably keep the Audi and run it into the ground if you think it's going to be worth that little come trade in time. FWIW, I'm planning on buying an Audi TT 225 as my next car, but only for practical reasons as I need some back seats and the MR2 Turbo doesn't have those!

2002 Mondeo. 1800cc petrol.

30mpg around town. 40mpg on a run. Dirt cheap insurance. Cheap parts. Reliable. Roomy.

Mine cost £1,000

if you truly want a car for the sake of a car ie trasport at the lowest possible cost then id say spend your 2.5k on a diesel clio pug 206 or korean shatbox that would be much newer.

I think they are all 48 months but I'm sure you can negotiate a shorter period for not a huge amount more.

Or Ling cars.....

Some great deals eg. DS3 1.6VTi for 206 per month on a 3+35 deal.

with those sort of deals, you are paying for expensive main dealer servicing, just a bit at a time, if you get a 5 year old yaris or a C1 or something like that you will run it on absolute fresh air, much cheaper over 3-5 years than any new peugeot. Make sure you get a small petrol though or an old tech diesel so you don't have to worry about exploding expensive bits.

worked example, £3k yaris, worth £1,500 after 3 years, therefore £500/yr depreciation, £100 service and average of £60/yr on tyres, even with £150/yr repairs for the £50 MOT = £71/month like for like

Isn't PH maybe the wrong forum for such a want? hehe

Maybe the What Car or Parkers forum would suit better?

Audi is a premium brand, not 'white goods' motoring.

Try kia, etc.

mondeo suggestion: £1000 over 3 years, = £27 per month for the car. Peanuts for maintenence as said.

this is where you need to be.
