Best classic car to tour Europe in?
Discussion
Hey,
I've had a couple of tours of Western Europe in the last few years namely the International Mini Meet in Switzerland and Germany. But I have to say bouncing along the motorway in an old mini isn't a comfortable experience by any means! Especially on the Autobahn!
You kinda want something that's reasonably comfortable, but also great fun to throw round a track right?
So I was thinking, if you guys had any classic alternatives to suggest? Anything goes really. Photos would be nice too!
Cheers
EDIT: hypothetical budget> limitless

We do the Classic Lemans in my Mk1 MX5 which isn't quite a classic yet, the number of classic 70's 911's we see is very impressive and they are pretty reliable you don't see any dead ones on the way and we see plenty of broken cars on the trip most tend to be British or Italian classics.

I didnt see any dead mini's on the way to the IMM either, which is surprising! I'd love a 70s porsche! Thanks guys so far I want them all, maybe one of each!
For me it would have to be a soft top. Can't imagine cruising around the cote d'azore and montecarlo in a fhc.
Top of my list would be a maserati ghibli spider from the late 60s / early 70s. <goes off to find a decent pic to post later>

But any good British sports car from the 60s / early 70s would fit the bill nicely for me - TR4A / TR5, MG B roadster (a well set up one!), Lotus Elan, E type Jag.
Took my MG B cruising around Normandy and Brittany a few years ago - still attracted crowds wherever I parked it, even though it still had its rubber bumpers on it at the time.
