I've got a S-Type, going soon but not soon enough for you I'd expect, But I'd recommend one, 33mpg on a run sits nicely at 80 and has been 100% reliable

Saab 9-5 Aero - Or non Aero, but you get lots and lots of toys on the Aero, and 250bhp on MY2002 models that are in your budget...

I usually look in the classifieds, click the advanced search, put in the budget , a 50 mile radius and see what grabs me. It's often easier as it throws up ideas you might not otherwise consider and also any bargains.

Why when people can start a thread asking the same questions that have been asked 1,000,001 times before?

I've come to conclusion that they can't use google and and the simple auto trader search tool. No offense to the OP.

To be fair some people aren't used to choosning cars on limited budgets.

FYI, the 4Motion isn't very economical. 25mpg round town.

My suggestion would be a lateb 90s Passat 1.8 Manual or petrol will do the job.

Golf 1.8 GTI (non turbo if you want economy)
