Hi guys

To celebrate the passing of professional exams and to coincide with my birthday I am planning to hire a supercar for the week. I would quite like a Lamborghini or a Ferrari.

Does anyone have any experience of short term supercar hire?

Are there any pitfalls I should be aware of? From what I can see its a case of pay a big deposit, try not to crash or lose license, hand car back and get deposit back.

Is it this simple?

I am thinking of using http://www.dreamcarhire.com/ has anyone else heard/used these guys?

Thanks in advance

Pretty tight daily mileage on those cars (75-125 miles per day)

Age not an issue.

Deposit not an issue (as long as i get it back)

Mileage is a bit of a kick but my commute is 60 miles so i would have another 40ish to play with before going into £1 per mile territory.

You made of money or just insane?

You're looking at just over £4000 to rent the cheapest Lambo for a week.

£4000 for 700 miles worth of driving, thats ridiculous.

Take time off and enjoy it. Don't commute in it! The deposit is most likely just a pre-authorisation swipe on a credit card, like at a hotel.

does seem like a silly amount of money.
but, if your that big a car nut, and its an ambition, and you can afford to blow the money on what could be a once in a lifetime treat, why not? lifes to short to regret it later on.
i'm unlikely to ever own said supercar, unless very lucky, so if i had the chance, as crazy as it seems, i would.

what about these super car club membership type things?

Don't take the advertised prices as red, I used Signature Car Hire some time ago and agreed a good discount on the car and mileage (it was only a Boxster though).

Just to let you know PB Supercars are doing 40% off all prices if you book before the 1st of March, you will need to complete the hire before 1st September. I have never used them though.

Be warned these outfits go over the condition of th car with a fine toothed comb, make sure you really pay attention when they examine it with you and highlight every stone chip and mark. I have never had a bad experience but a good chunk off your deposit could ruin your day especially if you dispute the damage.

Now go do it!

I've used Dreamcarhire as they supplied a couple of cars for my wedding a few years back. You won't have any problems with them. As an alternative you could call Signature Car Hire, based in Norholt. Great people and they have a 430 and a couple of Gallardos. As others have said, don't commute in it, take some time to enjoy.
