Classic Car Insurance Questions

To start I'm 21 (Will be 22 at time of renewal) with a 14 year old Honda Prelude attempting to insure it on a classic policy, slightly optimistic but trying to save a few £££s. I've spent the last couple of hours trawling the web for classic car insurance companies who can insure me with my criteria. Seems like most require the car to be at least 15 years old and with a lot of companies requiring drivers to be 25 or older. Does anyone know of a company who I may be able to obtain a quote from?

A further question, the Prelude is my daily driver, do classical insurance policies require the car to be a 2nd car or a rarely used car?

Can't see you getting anything on a classic policy with all things taken into account.

Best bet would be to limit mileage, get an older female on the policy as a named driver, change your job description a little.

Depends if you bullst or change it a little imo. Most office jobs will allow a little overlap.

Try ringing a few brokers, sometimes easier than trying classic policies online, particulalrly if it's not straightforward. Loads advertise in the classic mags, and I don't think they are all online either.
I use Peter Best, but have no idea whether the would cover you. They would probably know though

Indeed, plus most require you to have another car which is your daily driver and memebership of a club...

Been ringing around recently myself. Many weren't interested as I'm 20. Even more were put off by my 24 year old car, when they wanted 25! The circumstances they want are annoyingly arbitrary but you're stuck with it.


Likelihood is that quotes will be unpleasant, but it's worth a try as you might get something nice.

Someone mentioned Peter Best, who I use and can recommend. Ditto with Footman James - give them both a call.

Peter Best have a minimum driver age of 25 IIRC.

My Clio is insured with them.
