Recently i decided to join Facebook as i feel it may just get popular , anyhow i wanted to check some pictures a friend had posted on his wall.

I have manged to resist the masses for a while , but alas i have finally succumbed to it.

I was having a discussion regarding the fact that kids growing up now will never experience the childhood that i and quite possibly a lot of you had.

Everythings on Facebook , if i were a kid of 9 now id be probably facebooking twittering or rambling on my phone.

I think its a shame that kids will never have the experience that we all / most had because it will all be posted on someones account , and in turn the masses will read it.

Who said the Government are the big brother ? It the internet thats the big brother.

Its not a rant , its just a shame.

It's a shame you never had the same childhood as your elders. Picking bits of cotton out of looms, and occasionally getting crushed.

Things change.

Briefly joined Facebook, there are people who actually seem to live their lives though that website, I mean they update their status to let you know when they've had their lunch, what they're watching on TV etc. rolleyes

Kids today have the choice to use modern forms of communication or to live the childhoods that their parents did. They choose the modern way, just as we did.

For many, childhood is the best time of your life. I remember all the good times I had and its easy to think that modern kids are missing out on so much, that we grew up in the golden age after slavery but before lazy technology, but they really aren't missing out on a great childhood. They're just doing things differently. In 25 years they'll be the ones saying modern kids don't know what they're missing, when they had to actually type texts and had to invent a whole txt language to make it quicker etc etc. The old days when communicating took some effort.

Think of it this way: Do you look back now and think that your childhood was not as good as that of your parents? Do you think your kids, when they are older, are going to look back on their own childhood and wish they'd grown up in the '80s or '90s?

I don't think many will. If they thought the old ways were better they'd be thinking that already and acting accordingly.
