I feel your pain COMPLETELY!
I have the on my E60 5 series, they came wit the car when i bought it.
THey make such a high pitched noise i thought at one point there was something really wrong with the car.
Grip is minimal in the dry, in the wet my TC light might as well be on permanently.
Problem is they will last forever, or until i put it in a field.
THey should be illegal.

They are going to get even better according to their website:

I'll second that.My daily came with some nearly new Wanli s1088s on the front. Lethal in the wet and made so much road noise, I honestly thought a wheel bearing was on it's way out.
The guy at the tyre place didn't seem surprised when I sacked them off for some mid-range Avons.
