Trade in value for Jag X Type estate
Discussion
Good afternoon all,
I just wanted to get your opinions on this as I've been offered a bit of a deal or no deal on the in laws old motor as they're trading it in to buy a new Volvo XC60 - I'm in two minds about it as it's still a fair bit of cash
The car they're trading in is a 2008 Jaguar X type estate, 2.2 diesel with about 35k on the clock. They've had it from new and it's the facelift model with full leather, touch screen Sat Nav, front / rear parking etc - in short its a really nice car.
They've been offered 9.5k trade in and apparently I can have it for this price without impacting their deal. Does this seem a good price? I've had a look on the usual web and auction sites and struggling to make my mind up. I wasn't planning on swapping the old Mondeo for a while yet but if this is a bargain then I'll be tempted to go for it
Cheers
Paul

Cheers for the replies chaps - much appreciated
To answer the question; yes I really do like the car and I would only consider swapping my current Mondy for another diesel estate at the moment. I've known this car from new and the thought of getting it a bit cheaper than it should be is very tempting indeed - we all like a bargain
It certainly ticks a lot of boxes but I'm starting to think if it is not as great a deal that I thought it then it takes away the urgency to swap now if you see what I mean. Got some thinking to do...
There's no room for any more cash off as the chain of dealers they're getting the volvo from has a Jag garage next door where it will be going.

Seems like a good price rather than a totally unmissable bargain. Couple of private sales on autotrader for around 10k, but a couple of nice ones at dealers priced closer to 12.5k.
Depends if you really want an X-type right now and how much you value knowing the history of the car since new over having longer to think about things.
If I had the cash I would go for it. Could probably run it for a year and sell it for what you paid or close enough.

Lovely car, but it's going to keep depreciating.
It's not that much cheaper than ones you can get elsewhere, although knowing the history is appealing.
I'd probably say buy a 2006/7 for £3-5k less and have the same reliability/looks/spec without the next 12 months depreciation.
Heartbreaking letting goods cars go though. Don't envy your decision. Good luck.
