Remote Central Locking

Friend has a Peugeot 306 which has central locking (key in door operated).

He is planning to purchase a "remote" kit from ebay - whilst they claim to provide instructions a quick hunt around suggests the instructions are not that great.

Is this remote locking an easy to fit for a novice and does anybody know of a diy guide or perhaps have any related tips?

As a concept, I guess it's not a case of swapping the current central locking module with the ebay one, more so the ebay one sits (wried up) somewhere between the current control module and the front doors (with infrared receiver obviously wired up too)?

Did 306's with CL not have RCL anyway via button on the key ? Later models having an additional smaller button too for dead locks IIRC.

This was my first thought when he mentioned it to me on the weekend - when I looked at his car I couldn't see a receiver anywhere. I took the black pyramid thing off from near the sunroof / rear view mirror / interior lights area and there was nothing in there that looked like a sensor?

As I understand it from him, the remote was an optional element (his car is an 2000 year) - this is borne out by what can be seen on ebay (where they specifically offer the remote locking 'transformation' for pugs 306, 406 etc.)

Does anybody know how he can check for sure (he only got the one key when he purchased the car)?

Also going back to the original post - any DIY guides etc anywhere?

I got a kit from rClick for my MX5, has been alright.. Had someone else fit it though as I know nothing what so ever about electronics etc.
