Anyone have any experiance with these?

I like them quite a bit and the interior is very appealing! Seeing prices are coming down they seem like they are worth a punt.

Any opinions?

Have a trawl in the Audi/VW section. This pops up quite a bit.

The prefacelift cars are all 210BHP, post facelift are a mixture of 210 and 225, I think it was mid 2001 that all are 225. You can tell a prefacelift by the two piece headlights, post are one piece. Both remap to around 260 BHP.

Mid 30s MPG achievable on a run, mine averaged 32 overall when used for commuting for a year over 10K - mainly DC and Mway.

Now they're getting on a bit, there's going to be a few dogs out there. If you can find one with regular 10K oil changes, haldex oil/filter every 20K/40K and recent suspension work - they like wearing out bushes. Cambelt every 4yrs/60K, clutch/DMF proabably on it's way out at 100K ish.

To make it handle better, then some tinkering with the suspension is required but straight line speed can be enhanced for a stage 1 remap.

All have Xenons, but look for heated seats and BOSE if you can be picky.

There are better handling cars for the money, but if you want something not too common, they're worth a look.

I ran a 01 model with a Revo remap to ~260bhp for a year. It was reasonably fast but ultimately dull to drive and i got bored of it very quicky. The suspension is also pretty stiff and my wife hated being in it because of that.

I looked at a couple and found the same thing. They are quick cars (after a remap) but are pretty dull to drive at the same time.

I'm not really after anything exciting to drive as I have a motorbike for thrills.

I just want something reasonably refined, a nice place to sit in and a bit of poke.

That's why I had one, ok for commuting.
