I would go and speak to somebody at your local DVLA office (if its hasn't been closed down yet) rather than relying on what it says online. If you can provide purchase dates etc a real human is less likely to try and force you to pay for back dated tax..........Probably!

SORN status changes with keeper, so you should'nt be liable.

What he said.

Get yourself online and SORN it straight away, and you should be fine (I say should, because you never know what DVLA will try on...).

Or go down to the post office and tax it.

The person you bought the car from is liable for declaring it as SORN. So when you apply for road fund licence he'll get a nice £40 admin' charge notice from the DVLA. wink

If you do get any comeback just write to the DVLA (see "DVLA vs Liquid Knight" to see how effective that can be) explaining that you purchased the vehicle in good faith from the previously registered keeper and your obligation can only be from the date of sale. As you are about to give the DVLA money anyway I'm sure they won't mind.

Good luck. smile
