Vis below 50m so put your light of for ****s sake!
Discussion
Biking it in this morning across from Stonehenge to the office in Southampton and I lost count of the amount of cars being driven by brain dead numpties with ZERO lights on (around 1 in 20). Visibility at times was 50 metres and at best 100. Are these people grown in an infected petri dish or what?
So what do the eminent members of the PH board suggest:0
a) Dragged from their vehicle and capped at the side of the highway
b) Subject to cable tied limbs and a fast growing stick of sharp bamboo up the jaksee?

It's their choice
I presume you mean the punishment rather than the use of lights which is actually the law!
On a the same subject, why the f**k do some clowns insit on using sidelights - don't they see other cars with sidelights and realise that they're quite difficult to see?

Similar situation cycling into Ely - I was considering starting a thread on it. Must have been more than ten cars with no lighting at all, and visibility was down to twenty metres in parts. No lights makes it extra hard to be sure there's nothing coming prior to turning or crossing the road.So what do the eminent members of the PH board suggest:0

One particularly stupid example was an Audi with no lights who was also tailgating a Fiesta through an NSL, though I guess being that close means that at least you can see the car in front clearly.

Ely, Cambs or Ely in Cardiff? I used to live in little downham, Cambs. I think the standard of driving was so bad as they were mainly used to driving tractors. One particularly stupid example was an Audi with no lights who was also tailgating a Fiesta through an NSL, though I guess being that close means that at least you can see the car in front clearly.

Sorry, yeah Cambs (I live in Witchford - just south west of Little Downham). As you say; it can be...interesting cycling/driving about the place, particularly when the school run is on. Still, I can't believe the number of people who thought no lighting at all would be appropriate this morning.Jasandjules said:
Some people are muppets. I nearly ran over so many cyclists who have no light and are wearing dark clothes, and I also to flash other motorists who don't have lights on.
I was on the Triumph and several non-illuminated cars were in slow oncoming traffic. Flashed my high beam and pointed at their lack of lights. Result back was a look and a blank expression

Edit - not suggesting dimmed headlights are enough, but better than the poxy sidelights.
The saying in AD circles is, I believe, headlights or no lights, sidelights pointless in most situations.Crazy.
