Not too bothered about brand or viscosity as it is for a couple of high mileage bangers. I like using full synthetic as I feel better about going longer between changes. Currently scouring Ebay, but was wondering if there are any suppliers that may be competitive on price. So far the best I have found was £17 for 5l jug of QX 5W-40.

There was a thread a while back (Evo running costs, I think) where someone mentioned a ridiculously low price for a brand I had never heard of, but I can't remember the brand or the source.

Keep an eye on halfords as well - they often have 20% off Mobil / castrol oils. I often end up getting my oil from them, since there is no postage cost to collect it. Most of the other places are within a couple of £1's in price - very few seem to do heavy discounting.

I'd have thought with 20% off you'd still be over paying by around 20% hehe

Ebay is the answer. I just got 6litres of Castrol TWS 10w60 for £40. BMW would charge around £120 for the exact same stuff thumbup

I have bought oil there before and the best value used to be a Chevron brand, for something silly like £11 for 5l jugs. Haven't seen it there for a while though so didn't think it would be worth the trip.

Don't know how I missed the deal you mentioned. Have you seen it recently?.

I use them for the Shell Advance I use in the bike as I am more particular about that than the cars, but that Costco deal (if still available) has them beat by £30 for 20 litres!.

Thanks to all for your suggestions.

Opie Oils has never been cheap when I've looked for oil.
